This policy explains what personal data Weekend Chef collects, why we collect it and what your rights are. Weekend Chef is based in Accra, Ghana, and we handle personal data in line with the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
Who we are
Weekend Chef runs the website weekendchefgh.com, where customers order meals prepared by independent home chefs in Greater Accra. You can contact us about this policy at theweekendchef100@gmail.com or on WhatsApp at 054 393 7245.
What we collect
When you place an order
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- Your delivery city, address and any delivery note you add.
- The dishes, sizes and extras you order, the total and whether you chose Express delivery.
- Payment status and the Paystack payment reference. Your card or mobile money details are entered on Paystack's page and are never sent to us.
When you apply to become a chef
- Your name, phone number, email address and location.
- The type and number of the ID you provide (Ghana Card, NHIS, passport or driver's licence).
- Your cooking experience, signature dish, short bio, where you cook, your delivery arrangements, the days you can cook, your reason for applying and any social media links you give.
If you have a chef account
- Your username and password. Passwords are stored in hashed form, which means we cannot read them.
- The dishes, photos and prices you post, the orders you receive and the messages you exchange with our team.
When you contact us or send a review
- Your name, email address and message, or your name, rating and review.
How we use your data
- To take payment for your order, pass it to the chef and deliver it.
- To send you emails about your order, such as when it is accepted, out for delivery or delivered.
- To review chef applications and run chef accounts.
- To reply to your messages and read your reviews.
- To keep records we need for accounting and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- The chef preparing your order sees your name, your delivery address and the details of your order.
- Paystack processes your payment. Paystack's own privacy policy covers the payment details you give them.
- Our hosting provider stores the website and its data on our behalf.
- Authorities, if the law requires us to share data.
The website also loads fonts from Google Fonts, scripts from Cloudflare's cdnjs service and a script from Hostinger, our hosting provider. When your browser loads these files, those providers receive your IP address.
Cookies and browser storage
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. If you use the chef or operations dashboards, your browser stores a sign-in token so you stay signed in. The website may also save small display settings in your browser. These stay on your device. WordPress sets its own cookies only for site administrators who sign in.
How long we keep data
We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting and legal purposes. We keep chef application and account data while the application is being reviewed or the account is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards. We delete or anonymise data we no longer need.
How we protect it
The website uses HTTPS. Access to orders and applications is limited to our team and requires a password. ID documents that were uploaded in the past are stored outside the public part of the website.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it where we are not required to keep it. You can also object to how we use it. Email theweekendchef100@gmail.com and we will respond as soon as we can. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the date at the top.
